FAQ
1. Q: Can I transfer from a Gun River City Gun Exchange to River City Gun Range or vice versa?
A: Yes, but some limitations may apply. Glocks and other pistols affected by California Penal Code 27595 (a) [Machine gun-convertible pistol ban], as well as consignment firearms located at River City Gun Exchange CANNOT be transferred to River City Gun Range. Any FFL Transfer that is sent to River City Gun Exchange that was intended to be sent to River City Gun Range may be subject to additional transfer fees.
We Cannot transfer any background checks conducted at another store, so make sure that you initiate paperwork at the store that you want to pick the gun up from after the waiting period.
2. Q: What are your range fees?
A: Range fees are $25 per hour. Depending on lane availability, your visit may be subject to a single hour limit. If you want to have full access to our state-of-the art Action Target Retriever system access with full qualifications, games, and training modules, there is an additional $5 per visit charge.
3. Q: What are my costs if I'm a member?
A: Members enjoy free lane access each visit (may be limited to 1 hour depending on lane availability). Black and Gold Tier members receive full Action Target Retriever system access at no additional cost. If you are interested in becoming a member, please see our membership tab here.
4. Q: Do you offer reservations?
A: Currently, we are not offering reservations. No reservation is needed to use our facility as walk-ins are welcomed. River City Gun Range members will have exclusive access to reservations in the future.
5. Q: What do I need to shoot a firearm at your facility?
A: In order to shoot at our facility, you will need an acceptable form of Identification (A current government issued photo ID is required, such as a drivers license, state ID, Military ID or passport), a firearm, ammunition, and hearing and eye protection.
If you do not have hearing and eye protection, then we can rent or sell you these items. Use of your own firearms is welcomed. If you do not own a firearm, they are available for rent, but you must be accompanied by another adult in order to rent them. Ammunition is available for purchase on premises as well.
6. Q: Is there an age limit?
A: Yes, anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and fill out a minor waiver. The minimum age allowed in the range is 8, however range staff may deny entrance, at their discretion, for any reason that they deem fit.
7. Q: What is last call to shoot on the range?
A: Last call to shoot on the range is 8 PM. No new shooters will be allowed on a lane past 8 PM, NO EXCEPTIONS. We close at 8:30 PM and all activities will cease at that time.
8. Q: Do you do offer classes?
A: Classes are not being offered at the moment, but will certainly be available in the future. Our facility has a classroom on site and we will be offering a variety of classes ranging from beginner shooter courses to CCW courses.
9. Q: Do you have a retail storefront that sells firearms and ammunition?
A: Yes. River City Gun Range is a full service range and retailer, with expansive inventory. Just like our Fruitridge location, we stock a wide range of firearms, ammunition and accessories for firearm enthusiasts.
10. Q: Do you offer single shot exemptions? What is a single shot exemption?
Yes. Both of our locations are amongst some of the few CA Firearms Dealers that stock Single Shot Exemption (SSE) pistols.
Single Shot Exemption (SSE) pistols are firearms that have been manufactured from a stripped "virgin" frame to be dimensionally compliant single shot pistols as defined by CA Penal Code 32100(b). Single Shot Exempt handguns are exempt from the CA Safe Handgun Roster. Not all handguns can be manufactured into Single Shot Exempt Pistols, so please call us for more information.
11. Q: Is River City Gun Range the new River City Gun Exchange?
A: River City Gun Range is an expansion of River City Gun Exchange, where we are applying our previous 29+ years of sales experience to an all-new exciting Gun Range environment. River City Gun Exchange will be our flagship store with an expansive inventory with new, used and consignment inventory. River City Gun Range will have access to much of the inventory at River City Gun Exchange, but will focus primarily on new firearms and a range atmosphere.
